Kenya: Base Titanium Exported More Minerals in Q3

Base Titanium is calling on the government to put in place policy and legislative frameworks that can help attract more international mining companies to come invest in the largely unexplored sector.

Base Titunium General Manager, Joseph Shcwarz says this is the only platform that will see the country unlocking the potential within the sector.

In East Africa, Kenya lags behind Tanzania when it comes to mining industry.

To help improve tidings for Kenya, players in the mining industry are calling on the government to come up with policy and legislative frameworks that would encourage entry of international mining companies in the largely unexplored sector.

Base Titanium General Manager, Joseph Shcwarz says putting in place a conducive environment will enable the government to unlock the potential within the sector that will also boost revenue collection from mining activities.

He says the company has seen an improvement in production volumes in all its three key products comprising Zircon, retile and illuminate.

The VAT row between Base Titanium and the Kenya Revenue Authority has been settled after the taxman give it a VAT refund totaling 400 million dollars.
